Originaires de Limerick (Irlande), The Cranberries se forment à la fin des années 80 autour de Dolorès O'Riordan. Après un mini album en 1992, le succès arrive en 1994 grâce à "No Need To Argue" et au tube "Zombie". Suit "To The Faithfull Departed" avec "Free To Decide". Dolores devient maman d'un petit Taylor et chante "Ave Maria" au concert annuel de charité organisé par Luciano Pavarotti.
En 1999 sort "Bury The Hatchet", puis c'est "Wake Up And Smell The Coffee" deux ans plus tard. En 2002, le groupe fête une décennie de réussite avec le best of "Stars". Cette compilation comprend deux inédits et un titre choisi par les fans des Cranberries. A la fin de l'année, Dolores crée la surprise en annonçant vouloir quitter le groupe pour se consacrer à d'autres projets solo. Deux ans plus tard, la formation annonce sa séparation temporaire.
Sa chanteuse sort "Are You Listening?" en 2007 et "No Baggage" en 2009. Au moment où elle va partir en tournée, elle annonce une reformation de The Cranberries pour une série de shows outre-Atlantique tout d'abord, puis en France lors du printemps 2010. "Bualadh Bos - The Cranberries live" paraît conjointement à cette annonce en janvier 2010.
